Summer Service Reductions
Dear MTA Passengers:
The Mass Transportation Authority must reduce expenses this summer due to the continuing loss of property tax funding resulting in $4 million less per year to operate transportation through the community. In order to provide you with information regarding what will take place over the summer I would like to point out the following items for your information:
1. This is a temporary service reduction and service will be restored on September 2, 2014. During the reduced service period of June 23, 2014 to September 2, 2014 the following services will be provided after 6:30 p.m. by MTA Your Ride Service:
Effective June 23, 2014, the Mass Transportation Authority fixed route bus service will assume one hour service between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
We are committed that no one will be stranded getting home from these activities but we will utilize Your Ride Services after 6:30 p.m. (*for the above stated purposes) Monday through Saturday. Information on how to schedule the Your Ride Services will be provided in upcoming weeks.
2. Fixed Route passengers utilizing a Monthly General Public Pass will be able to use it for Your Ride Services after 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday (*for the above stated purposes). Those passengers who pay with cash will be required to pay the appropriate fares when utilizing Your Ride Service. Regional Bus Service will not be affected by the service changes taking place this summer. Prior to June 23, 2014 MTA Representatives will be at the Downtown Transportation Center to answer questions and to hand out information on how to use Your Ride Services after 6:30 p.m. (*for the above stated purposes)
3. Sunday service remains the same.
We apologize for the service reductino this summer and we are working on a solution for the future. We would like to thank you for your continued patience and understanding during these difficult times and we look forward to serving your needs in the future.Sincerely,
Mass Transportation Authority
